$1M to Attract Students to Geology and Marine Sciences

The earth and planetary sciences department at the University of California, Davis, is receiving a $1 million award from the National Science Foundation to target scholarships for students eligible for federal financial aid and enable field experiences for majors in either geology, or marine and coastal sciences.

At least 150 AR sandboxes have been built worldwide since ��ϲʿ��ͼ developed the sandbox and its free, open-source software.

Breaking the Strongest Link Triggered Big Baja Earthquake

A spate of major earthquakes on small faults could overturn traditional views about how earthquakes start, according to a study from researchers at the Centro de Investigación Científica y de Educación Superior in Ensenada, Mexico, and the University of California, Davis.

The study, published Feb. 15 in the journal Nature Geoscience, highlights the role of smaller faults in forecasting California’s risk of large earthquakes.
