PES Doubles Up on Green Certifications

��ϲʿ��ͼ’ Green Building Team has news to shout from the rooftop of Plant and Environmental Sciences: “This building is a sustainability star!” — as declared by LEED and an international rating system known as BREEAM.

PES is the first ��ϲʿ��ͼ building to receive a BREEAM certification, and it is the first such certification in the United States for an in-use academic building. On top of all that, PES received BREEAM’s first “excellent” rating in the United States in the category of “asset performance,” comprising waste, transport, pollution, materials and energy.

Manetti Shrem Museum Achieves LEED Platinum Distinction

��ϲʿ��ͼ earned the U.S. Green Building Council’s highest LEED rating for the new Jan Shrem and Maria Manetti Shrem Museum of Art. It is the ninth ��ϲʿ��ͼ project to be platinum-certified in LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design).

“It is far too tempting to take an art museum and make the architecture unique and otherworldly,” said Julianne Nola, Manetti Shrem project manager for the ��ϲʿ��ͼ Office of Design and Construction Management. “But ��ϲʿ��ͼ had a vision — realized by our design-build team — for a museum that would reflect the spirit of its place.”
