Changes Made to Design Competition to Encourage Entries

Updated July 7: ��ϲʿ��ͼ has done a makeover on the competition. To encourage entries, the campus has opened the contest beyond students to include alumni too, extended the deadline to July 19, and enriched the prizes with two $500 Amazon gift cards and more. See the updated contest website for rules and judging criteria, schematics and 360-degree photos of the rooms to be designed.

Doctoral student Matt Savoca talks trash — well enough that he's just earned a spot in a prestigious University of California competition for communicating graduate research.

The ecology student won a campus contest on Friday and will compete against nine winners from sister campuses in the UC Grad Slam finale in San Francisco on April 22. Check out his competition.

Chimps plan for a good early breakfast

New research by the University of California, Davis, shows that chimpanzees plan ahead, and sometimes take dangerous risks, to get to the best breakfast buffet early.

The study co-authored by Leo Polansky, an associate researcher in the ��ϲʿ��ͼ anthropology department, reveals that chimpanzees will find a place to sleep en route to breakfast sites and risk travel in the dark when predators are active to obtain more desired, less abundant fruits such as figs. The study is being published by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America.
