Spring Quarter Snapshot: Marching Band Jams at a Distance

While there won’t be a Picnic Day parade marching down the streets of Davis this year, ��ϲʿ��ͼ is still striking up the band. With the help of some clever video editing, members of the ��ϲʿ��ͼ Marching Band are staying connected and playing their favorite tunes together.

About 20 band members started by recording themselves playing the time-honored Aggie Fight Song while sheltering in place. Brad Sparks, the band’s coordinator, then spliced the fight song footage into a single video.

Saturday (Sept. 28) was a day of firsts: Not only was it the football team’s Big Sky Conference opener, but new students stormed onto the field for the annual Running of the First-Years, the renamed ��ϲʿ��ͼ Marching Band made its debut in the stands, and a new home game tradition began.

Update: Interim Assistant Director Hired, First Band Performance on Saturday

Emily Galindo, interim vice chancellor for Student Affairs, provided the following update on the band program, including the appointment of an interim assistant director and a performance on Saturday, Sept. 28:

We are excited to announce the appointment of Garrett Rigsby as interim assistant director for the ��ϲʿ��ͼ Marching Band and that the band’s first performance will be at the Aggies home football game this Saturday, Sept. 28.
