Statement on the Impact of the Global Kronos Ransomware Attack at ��ϲʿ��ͼ

��ϲʿ��ͼ recently became aware of the global ransomware attack on Kronos, which resulted in the company taking all of its cloud services offline worldwide. Kronos is currently used as the timekeeping system for Dining Services for approximately 250 career staff and 1,000 student employees, and the unavailability of the service will prohibit these employees from submitting timecards using the Kronos system.

UC has learned that it, along with other universities, government agencies and private companies throughout the country, was recently subject to a cybersecurity attack. The attack involves the use of Accellion, a vendor used by many organizations for secure file transfer, in which an unauthorized individual appears to have copied and transferred UC files by exploiting a vulnerability in Accellion’s file transfer service.

Cyberattack Sends Racist Email to ��ϲʿ��ͼ, 5 Other Universities

A hate-mail campaign that targeted at least six U.S. universities, including ��ϲʿ��ͼ, resulted in the delivery of a racist message to several thousand ��ϲʿ��ͼ email accounts on Sunday (June 21).

The “Pre-Qualification Request Complete” email came from Equity Prime Mortgage of Atlanta, a mortgage lender and itself the victim of a cyberattack. ��ϲʿ��ͼ email filters blocked most of the messages sent here, but not all of them.

IET Warns of Scam Emails Seeking Gift Cards

��ϲʿ��ͼ faculty and staff are currently the target of a large-scale malicious email campaign that is attempting to deceive recipients into purchasing and supplying gift cards to the attacker.

Attackers are using fake Gmail accounts that appear similar to ones that might belong to ��ϲʿ��ͼ deans and assistant vice chancellors. The message directs recipients to reply via cellphone or text message. This tactic limits the ability of campus systems to respond with email countermeasures.
