��ϲʿ��ͼ Program Gave National Youth Poet Laureate Her Debut

Self-doubt almost stopped Alexandra Huynh of Carmichael from entering the high school classroom where a ��ϲʿ��ͼ program was offering students an opportunity to present their poetry.

Then a junior at Mira Loma High School, Huynh hadn’t yet given public voice to her poems. But a phone call to her sister reassured her she had nothing to lose.

��ϲʿ��ͼ Program to Lead Healing Workshop for Black Youth Tonight

What

Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS), a critical literacy program at ��ϲʿ��ͼ, will lead an intensive writing workshop for youth as part of a larger healing event for Black youth in the wake of the death of Stephon Clark. Hundreds of youth are expected to participate in the "Words as Weapons" workshop.

Media are welcome to attend, and Vajra Watson, founder of SAYS and director of research and policy for equity at ��ϲʿ��ͼ, is available for interviews before or at the event.
