A vibrant new mural adorns a wall in the courtyard of King Hall, the hoem of the ��ϲʿ��ͼ School of Law.

Co-created by Reza Harris ’19, the mural depicts Martin Luther King Jr., after whom King Hall is named, and the word “Dream.” That spray-painted word pays tribute to King’s famous 1963 “I Have a Dream” speech, Harris said, “and it is a message to the students here: You can look out the window while you are studying, and see a reminder of what your goals are.”

��ϲʿ��ͼ Imagining America Invites Exchange of Stories to Create Mural

On Friday (Feb. 2), three days after the president's State of the Union address, University of California, Davis, students, faculty, staff, and community members will join a national movement. They will gather to exchange stories to help a Davis artist create a chalk mural expressing community feelings for a “2018 People’s State of the Union.” The mural creation will follow with storytelling circles on the state of Davis and the nation.

Students at a school in South Sacramento have some extra inspiration thanks to a ��ϲʿ��ͼ mural workshop class. The class visited Cesar Chavez Intermediate School recently to ask why the school was important to the students and their parents, then depicted their answers on the wall of the school.

"What the mural is depicting here, where mom is giving the kid a kiss on the forehead — I see that every single day," said principal Eracleo Guevara. "What it's going to do is just them see themselves through these great images with the goal of graduation."
