TRANSITIONS: Trout in Student Health, Lorenzen in Athletics

Margaret Trout, who has more than 16 years of experience in college health administration, is the new executive director for Student Health and Wellness.

In the role, she is providing leadership for Student Health and Counseling Services and the Student Disability Center. Together, the two units have the equivalent of about 175 full-time and 45 student employees and budgets totaling nearly $28 million.

Trout most recently oversaw health services, counseling services and wellness programs as director of the Health and Counseling Center at the University of Portland. At Portland State University for five years, she started as a staff nurse and rose to become interim assistant director of the Center for Student Health and Counseling. Over the next 10 years at Willamette University, in Oregon, she served as director of Student Health Services and then director of the Bishop Wellness Center with oversight of health, counseling, insurance and disability services.

Trout holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in nursing from the University of Portland and an MBA from Willamette.

Focus on student-athlete outcomes

Intercollegiate Athletics announced the appointment of Michael Lorenzen as a senior associate athletics director with primary responsibility in the area of student-athlete outcomes, a role that furthers a major initiative put forth by Director of Athletics Kevin Blue, now in his second year at the Aggie helm.

Lorenzen will collaborate with the Internship and Career Center, the Graduate School of Management, faculty members and the development office to establish career-development opportunities for the more than 600 Aggies competing in 23 varsity sports. He also will oversee the department鈥檚 academic advising unit, and serving as sports administrator for women鈥檚 volleyball and women鈥檚 swimming and diving.

Lorenzen was a gymnastics coach (Iowa, Stanford and Arizona State) before moving into administration.
