Oct. 22 Horse Day offers tours, demonstrations and hands-on activities

Oct. 22, Saturday — Horse Day at °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ, a tradition since the early 1980s, will take on a new, interactive look this year as participants join in a variety of tours, demonstrations and hands-on opportunities.

Activities will include a horse barn tour, draft-horse hitching instruction and wagon rides, and demonstrations of saddle fitting, horse and mule training, artificial insemination, horseshoeing and equine-assisted learning.

Horse Day is open to the public; registration costs $25 per person, $20 per person for groups of 10 or more, and $10 for children age 14 and under.

The day is coordinated by the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ Department of Animal Science and will be held at the horse barn and arena on La Rue Road between Bioletti Way and California Avenue. Presenters will include °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ and Stanford University instructors as well as experts from the equine community.
