Campus officials confirmed Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders will be here Wednesday night (June 1) for a campaign rally on . The Sanders campaign is paying for all arrangements.

Officials said the field along La Rue Road will be fenced off, with entry gates and security screening set up at the northwest corner. The gates are tentatively set to open at 5 p.m.

The campaign says its “A Future to Believe In” rally is free and open to the public, with people to be admitted on a first-come-come, first-serve basis. The campaign advises: “For security reasons, please do not bring bags, and limit what you bring to small, personal items like keys and cell phones. Weapons, sharp objects, chairs, and signs or banners on sticks will not be allowed through security.”

Be prepared for traffic congestion between Highway 113 and the field, on streets around the field, and in and around the Pavilion Parking Structure off Hutchison Drive. Faculty, staff and students may want to consider alternative parking or public transit. , with detailed information on routes and stops in the vicinity of Hutchison Field, and a note of caution: "Buses could be crowded, resulting in potential delays and minor service disruptions."

Also note: The pedestrian and bike path along the east side of Hutchison Field will be closed.

Help harvest campus produce for Yolo Food Bank

Besides donating food or money to the Yolo Food Bank, consider this other way to help: Come join �������ϲʿ����������ͼ students in harvesting a campus field.

The harvest, led by the �������ϲʿ����������ͼ Arboretum and Public Garden’s  and the , is scheduled from 9 a.m. to noon Friday, June 10. Meet at the .

The field is being used this quarter for Professor Muhammad Marrush’s Plant Sciences 5, “Plants for Garden, Orchard and Landscape,” providing students with hands-on experience in cultivating plants for food as well as establishing and maintaining a vegetable garden.

“Now this beautiful produce is ready to eat, but we need your help with the harvest,” says the �������ϲʿ����������ͼ Arboretum and Public Garden, which is assisting the student groups in getting the word out.

Plant Sciences 5 students have taken some of the field’s produce in the past, but there were always leftovers. So, in January, the call went out for volunteers to harvest the field for the Yolo Food Bank — which end up with .
