°ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ

March 8, Monday -- The public is invited to hear three scholars concerned with civil rights talk about voting rights and California's noncitizens at an event sponsored by the °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ Pacific Regional Humanities Center. On the panel will be UCLA law professor Joaquin Avila, a prominent litigator who has argued successfully before the U.S. Supreme Court and served as president of the Mexican American Legal Defense Fund. Accompanying him will be °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ law and Chicana/o studies professor Kevin Johnson, a specialist in immigration and civil rights law. He is vice president/director of Legal Services of Northern California. The third panel member will be Adela de la Torre, chair of Chicana/o studies and an economist who looks at health care, education and immigration issues. The talk will take place noon-1 p.m. in the Moot Court Room, School of Law, °ÄÃÅÁùºÏ²Ê¿ª½±½á¹û×ßÊÆͼ.
