Theatre professor featured in Teen Vogue for activism

Theatre and Dance Chair Larry Bogad made Teen Vogue. The 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 Curiosity Gap Blog recently featured his podcast, 鈥淲hat鈥檚 in a Plague?鈥 and he has garnered more attention for his activism in the youth-centered magazine. The article,  鈥淧ranks as Political Activism: From the Yippies to TikTok,鈥 spotlights activists throughout history who have incorporated humor, satire or irony into their protests. Bogad, who has used theatrical values to make activism more engaging, is quoted in the piece in regards to activists employing creative techniques to give their protests more impact.  More on the department website. Art alumni featured for poster art, multimedia

The  Davis Enterprise recently published 鈥淭he poster boy for a long, successful Davis-born art career,鈥 spotlighting successful 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 Art Department alum Thomas Morris. Morris, who studied at 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 in the 鈥60s, is known for his hand-lettered, screen-printed. But his work went beyond promotional posters for rock concerts: Morris also printed 鈥渁nti-war chronicles鈥 and 鈥渆cology manifestos.鈥 In addition to being a great era for rock, the 鈥60s was also a golden age for the 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 art department. Morris began his artistic career studying under Wayne Thiebaud, Roland Peterson, and Bob Arneson. Today, Morris continues to accept freelance projects. In July, the Sacramento News & Review featured 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 arts alumni Aida Lizalde (B.A. 鈥18). In the article 鈥淗eart to Art with Aida Lizalde,鈥 Lizalde describes her experience as an immigrant, and how this experience shapes the art she creates. Faculty, staff honored as they retire

Among the departments of art, music, and theatre and dance, four faculty and staff have retired this summer. Typically, these retirements would be marked with departmental celebrations. However, these gatherings have been prevented by coronavirus concerns. Now webpages mark their retirement. Click on their names for individual web pages.

Department of Music

Distinguished Professor of Music joined the department in 1988. Her work focused on ethnomusicology and medieval and Renaissance history and theory.

Department of Theatre and Dance 

Professor of Theatre and Dance joined the Theatre and Dance faculty in 2003 after previously serving several times as a Granada Artist-in-Residence beginning in 1992. 

Costume Shop Director is a 澳门六合彩开奖结果走势图 alumna and joined the department staff in September 1999. She established and supervised the The Enchanted Cellar Costume Rental service, which raised funds for the department by renting out costumes for Halloween and other special events. 

Department of Art 

Professorof Art joined the department faculty in 1985. She has taught all levels of sculpture, as well as a seminar in art practice.
